A toolkit for game designers to create easy to learn tabletop roleplaying games.

Polymorph is an RPG platform—a tool kit and a set of development assets—that allows game designers to create easy to use and learn tabletop roleplaying games (TTRPGs). As a framework, it eliminates complex systems and esoteric rules mastery in favor of an elegantly simple yet satisfying core mechanic:

ROLL YOUR DIE TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS.

One die per player

In a polymorph game, each player only ever uses one specific polyhedral die.  Each die represents a different “way to play” or a different “role” that they have in the group. Whenever a player asks “can I do something?” they roll their die and with a quick glance at a resolution matrix, know if they succeed.

No math

There is NEVER any math involved when you play polymorph. Depending on the game world and what kind of character that you are playing, you may roll with advantage or disadvantage, and the game master never rolls dice. Instead, when it's time to roll, you simple roll your die and consult a resolver chart that tells you whether the number you rolled counts as a success, a failure, or a special case.

Easy to learn

Most Polymorph games can be taught, even to new players, in a few minutes. Character creation is fast, and games focus on a cinematic, improvisational style of roleplaying that still requires players to interact with a deep underlying dice system.

One-shot friendly

Polymorph is designed for one-shot play, and it's the ideal system for quickly creating a game set in a world of your choice. From cartoon princesses to psychic dogs to classic dungeon crawling, Polymorph will get you up and running in a unique setting without months of design.

Award Winning

Polymorph won BEST RULES 2020 from the IGDN and has been nominated for ENnie Awards for both Best Rules and Product of the Year (Mazes and The Excellents).
