What's a fun shot?
Maybe you're short on time. Or maybe you just don't want to do all the planning that goes into exploring dungeons and hunting down dragons. Or maybe you don't yet know how. Regardless, you want to get right to the roleplaying, and tell an epic story one night with your friends. Should that be so hard?
Well, with fun shots, it isn't! Building on the idea of a one shot TTRPG adventure — a story game that you can run in a single session — a fun shot is a complete game experience that guides you through character creation and an adventure in under 2 hours.
How is that possible? Fun shots are designed using polymorph™, a rules-lite, roleplaying-forward one-die-per-player system that keeps character creation to under 5 minutes.
Roleplay anything!
The brevity of fun shots is what makes them so delightful. Without the commitment of a larger game, you can play the weirdest of characters and encounter the wackiest of lore. Instead of always playing the same person, you will explore countless identities and worlds.
Tonight you might play as psychic dogs battling Lovecraftian evils in the Chernobyl exclusion zone. Tomorrow, become cartoon princesses solving problems with music as they adventure in Awesome World.
This is the power of all one shot adventures: range and flexibility. With fun shots, the focus is on outlandish, wacky, and satisfying stories that create unforgettable narrative moments and sometimes result in terrible puns.
A growing collection
We've been incredibly excited to build out our library of fun shots over the last few years, supporting a thriving tradition of one shot roleplaying. Beginning with The Excellents by Adriel Lee Wilson, Business Wizards by Nat Mesnard and Patrick Watson, and Chris O'Neill's Rebel Scum and The Very Good Dogs of Chernobyl, we've expanded into stories both familiar and strange, with a number of great new titles on the horizon.
